I began my counseling career working in a residential facility for troubled adolescents seeking independence.  I found this work challenging and rewarding, but after more than four years, decided to seek my graduate degree in Clinical Counseling. 

During my graduate studies, I worked as a Case Manager for consumers facing developmental disabilities.  This furthered my understanding of the many challenges families face. 

I graduated from The Citadel's College of Graduate and Professional Studies with a Master of Arts in Clinical Counseling.  After graduation, I relocated to Oak Park, Illinois, where I worked in community mental health.  From these experiences, I offer expertise working with various treatment teams in such settings as schools, hospitals, physician offices, and mobile crisis. 

Returning to Charleston and opening my practice reacquainted me with the hospitality the area offers and the opportunity to reconnect with others in the mental health community.  Having lived many years in Charleston, I can provide unlimited referrals to specialists.  At times, a referral may be needed to other providers such as substance abuse services or psychiatric supports.  Make use of my established connections!

I find my work fulfilling and am consistently amazed by the dedication of my clients.  I have worked hard to earn their trust and believe that the therapeutic relationship is critical to treatment success.

I received the "Clinical Counselor of the Year 2006-2007" from the Tri-County Counseling Association.  Other affliations include the American Counseling Association and the South Carolina Counseling Association.
